Another observation: the very pretty energy pistol issued to the crew has an almost immediate travel velocity, much faster than Starfleet hand phasers, and it disintegrates targets through combustion. Their pistols are better than any weapon I've seen in Star Trek, except for that crazy isokinetic cannon that Tom Paris tried out on a rock in VOY.

I was surprised they can vape since in the prior episode with the Zulu / AR-558 scene they can't even full-auto.
