Well, I seem to remember a post at the time the ep aired which basically said "how dare they name a precious Defiant after a city of wops and dagoes? Thank God they changed the name!" TPTB obviously took note, too, because every ship seen or mentioned in the last three years of Voyager was named after a decent, God-fearing, All-American town, city or state with minimal wetback presence.
