Actually, this is the USS Antares of the USN. She is an Antares Class General Stores Issue Ship with the registry of AKS-33. On Dec. 7, 1941, the Antares was with the USS Ward off the coast of Oahu.

Weren't she and some other ship the ones who fired on the Jap mini-subs, actually firing the first shots of the Pacific War? Or am I thinking of another ship?

Reminds me of a Foxtrot comic: (over a golf game) Roger: Should I shoot it to the right or the left? Peter: Right. (Hits ball, goes off course) Roger: Next time, just say "correct."

The USS Antares was with the USS Ward when the USS Ward fired the first shots of the war. So, yep to the first question.

"Jap." Ah, racist slurs becoming a way of shortening words. It's good to see that the mentality of the 40's still exists. *The Mighty Mim assassinates Marshal Veers, take over SW universe*

"Jap" is a racist slur? Really? I mean, it's just a shortening of the full word. "Scot" isn't racist.
-------------------- Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.
