Just a question... why didn't Andy Probert's lush matte painting not get used for the terraforming station on Valera II?? It looks way better (as per "The Art of Star Trek") Than what was seen in the episode... What WAS seen in the episode!?!

I'm just guessing, but i think that TPTB were biased towards model work than matte painting work.. they also nixed his idea of simply filming his painting of the pseudo-Ambassador-class instead of building a model

I can appreciate that for a lone starship - would that have been for "Conspiracy"? But they do lots of mattes for 'planet locales' all through the series!
