Has anyone else noticed that the FX guys for Enterprise seem to enjoy "paying homage to" (i.e. poking fun at) Star Wars ships?
Enterprise, not being available where I am, must be downloaded, and I'd gotten a little behind. So, I just saw "Fusion" last night, and couldn't help but notice that, besides the ship with the Star Destroyer engine pack always seen in the credits as some sort of precursor to Enterprise,
Fusion showed us Enterprise docking with Darth Maul's Infiltrator from The Phantom Menace.
Funny how these are always older, less-advanced ship types.

The intro-ship looks like thoes new proto-star destroyers from the trailer while the other one... dammit, all the time I knew I know that design!
Maybe it's their dirty revenge for the Millenium Falcon in First Contact and the E-D in Episode 1.

I hadn't heard of the Falcon in First Contact, but I've heard about the "Phantom Enterprise" . . . never thought it was true, though, since all I've seen of that is this:
I don't think that's the Enterprise-D . . . at best, I'd say it could have been one of the McQuarrie Enterprises for Phase Two. (And besides, that would seem rather appropriate, don't you think?)

I doubt that ILM, even if they did have access to those models, and even if they knew where they were, used them.

Well, just for the sake of argument, I'll point out that it wouldn't be hard to CGI one of the Phase Two Enterprises. Besides, it's dark. :-)
However, it probably isn't even that . . . from what I understand in my perusings, what we're seeing in that pic is two separate flying objects which we happen to see together.
(Also, I've found the bit about the Falcon in First Contact . . . but, in each case, there's no description of where or when it is, just that a ILM guy says he had a Falcon flight pattern and threw it in. Unless it's so far in the background as to be invisible, I doubt the ship itself is in there . . . could have simply been a reference to a set of maneuvers that he made one of the Federation starships match.)

I don't see a reason why they would have to CG the phase-2 ship; they had a HP-printer and a shoe and a WW1-tank flying around at Coruscant, too. Or maybe they just scanned them. I think ILM has the technical equipment to scan 3D-objects and let the computer generate a CGI of the object.
