Well, I e-mailed Okuda because I figured he had something to do with the plaque, and he replied with this:
Thanks for the note.� Unfortunately, I don't have my files from the show immediately available.� (I think the ship was a Wells-class ship, and I may have given it a slightly different prefix instead of NCC, but I don't immediately recall).� If you'll e-mail me after June 1, I'll be back at work and will try to look it up for you.

Well, that explains the class. Any have any confirmation of the NCC part being slightly different?

Well, I fairly certain that the middle letter is a 'C', but the third one looks different, and the first one could be an 'N', but it looks a little like a 'V', also. However, I definitely think the last letter is not a 'C'.
Also, I'm pretty sure the second-to-last number of the registry is a 7, and th last looks kind of like a 3, but I can't be sure of the others...
