Well, we can always try to rationalize it as lithium deuteride when they screw it up. How it would be naturally occurring is beyond me, but it is a solid substance containing deuterium, at least.

The Federation only knows about Duteerium ore because Duteer told the mercenary Tallera about it once over some Tellurian food aboard a Tellarite ship when they were near Talarian space shortly before he died of a Telurian plague.
