In TMP, when the klingon cruisers are firing at V'Ger, what are the diameter of those torpedos, based on the size of the ship?
And is there any evidence that the "balls" being fired are not the actual size of the torpedos but they are projecting a solid energy field around them, making them look like spheres?
For those that have seen the TMP-DVD, is that scene "cleaned up" any?

They're about the same size as the launch tubes, so I'd say that they are indeed plasma torpedoes. It's something that I've long suspected and it makes sense given the purported Romulan/Klingon alliance...It was the Romulans who had Plaztorps wasn't it?

Aah, like that "fireball" that chased Kirk in TNZ? But the K'Tinga sleeper ship in Voyager fired photon torpedos, and it was about equally old, wasn't it?
Anyway, how big is the launch port of the K'Tinga? Compared to the torpedo Spock was buried in, the TMP-one must be gigantic!
Anyone?

IF my calculations are correct and IF the K'tinga schematics are accurate then the Klingon Plaztorp should be about 4 meters in diameter when active. Presumably there is a much smaller devise at the centre of the sphere otherwise there wouldn't be room to store very many torpedoes onboard.
As for the generational ship firing standard photon torpedoes; I don't see why the K'tinga can't be equipped to fire several varieties of ordinance, it is a warship after all.
