Can someone recommend a good Treknology essay out there in cyberspace that could help me understand what transwarp and quantum slipstream (is that right) drive is and how it differs from standard warp drive? I know that both transwarp and quantum slipstream are much faster than "conventional" warp drive, but I don't know enough about how the technolgy works or the specific differences.
I have to point out that I am one of those unlucky people who hasn't been able to watch all of Voyager in syndication, or maybe some of you think that I am lucky.
I also didn't get UPN during the original series broadcast so the differences may have been explained in an episode or two that I haven't seen yet. All I really know is that Warp 10 is a really bad idea. Just say no to Warp 10!
Also, has Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda affected the way some people view quantum slipstream. I understand that the Andromeda Ascendant uses some sort of slipstream drive because they are constantly using it in dialogue like warp use is used in Star Trek. But I don't know the fictional reason why and how that works either.
Can someone please point me in a direction to look? Many thanks.

Well, even though I haven't posted anywhere on Flare since Feb., I would like to point you to this previous thread on slipstream drive, and then shut this thread, lest we may never speak of it again. The hellish slpistream...

You know, it's very tempting for me to start defending that Voyager episode (and I liked Final Frontier, too! ), but I have this feeling that everyone would just run away with terror in their eyes, screaming loudly
