Some people are still saying it's an April Fools joke. John Knoll said he did it, what's his incentive to lie about it?
If only there was a history of in-jokes from other scifi series on Trek or a history of ILM inserting the Millenium Falcon into other scifi movies. Oh wait, there is.

In the end we will just have to wait for the Special Edition DVD of First Contact. I'm sure they'll mention that rumor in some way in one of the commentaries...
