I'm interested in the proto-Nebula models that were worked on by (I think) Ed Miarecki. One was destroyed in the Wolf 359 battle scene, and at least one other appeared as a ready room model in DS9. I've already seen the excellent Ex Astris article on these proto-Nebulas, but I'm curious if there is anything new on them? Did they pop up at the Christie's auction, and if so are there any pictures around the net? That sort of thing.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm curious about how the Nebula design evolved, since they're one of my favorite TNG ships.

I don't believe they were part of the auction. Maybe they belonged to Ed and were only loaned to DS9 as set decoration?

None of the BOBW stuff was auctioned that I know of.

We know the New Orleans model was hung in Mike Okuda's office, so it's likely that all of those models were kept by the art department. The sales are still on going, though, so who knows what might turn up.

I don't recall any proto-nebulas at the auction, just a standard nebula that was being sold. I do like the nebula design with four nacelles, the one that appeared as a model in that one episode where Riker meets that weird bug-eyed alien kid.

I know that this sort of thing happens a lot, but I shudder to think that there might be stuff in the warhouse that someone declared too unfit to auction off, and that was *GASP!* thrown away...

Hey, they threw out almost all the original Star Wars large props (between SW and RTOJ) because the english wharehouse used to store them had a leaky roof- allowing the (mostly wooden) props to get mold, wood-rot and termites. The ESB Falcon sets are a tad diffrent as result- Star Destroyers and X-Wings too. Everything built as a full-sized mock-up was lost (explaining why Y-Wings dis not see more action later on).
I'm certain a ton of Trek stuff has been lost to such carelessness or to the studio's "the movie's over, throw it out to make room" policies of the 1970-80's.

I doubt it - seems like they could sell the sweat of Riker's back for ~$1000 clams.

As far as I know they didn't sell the Nebula model at all(thank god). The Constellation was another model conspicuous in its absence.

Well, to be honest.. most of the BoBW models were really just model kits with glued on marker pens. Might not have been deemed auction material, or they may have simply dissapeared into private hands.

NOT SO! Only the New Orleans fits your description- the two ILM-made Excelsior Study Models would have brought big bucks if auctioned, as would the gigantic Niagara model.
I was actually hoping they'd auction off the Springfield and Chyenne models- just so we'd get a better look at them!
