Well, I must admit, they do look vaguly alike, but that's about it. For one thing, the Akyazi-class is significantly smaller than the Akira-class. Another thing, I'm not sure about the Akyazi's armament, but seeing as where it's a perimeter action ship, I don't think it has as much armament as the Akira does.

Someone tell me what is the Akazyi class? When did it come out? And did anyone have a pic?

Well it's a starship that was created by someone, whose name escapes my mind. It is non-canon and in the 2280-2290's time era in the Trek universe.

Hm... They don't look terribly similar to me...

And is there any reason that Akira's pod has been amputated? :-)

What did happen to the weapons pod on that Akira?

Anyway, if you look at both ships from above, you may see some vague similarities.

I actually have no clue what happened to the pod on that Akira. I found the pic on the net and saved it. It's the only Akira-class pic on my hardrive, so I used it for my site.

The pod is only on the Akula subclass. The two other subclasses are Akyazai and Arbtier. Further information is available upon request.

They do look similar. I noticed that when I got the book.
