Hey does anyone recall exactly when DS9 switched to Foundation

Well, for DS9, I don't know. FI started doing work on Basics I or II for that CG creature. Voyager didn't really bridge over to full CG until The Swarm. As for when Muse came on board, my guess would be around Season 5 considering WotW was done using models.

I don't have any other pictures of the publicity Defiant but check this capture of the "TotP" Defiant (I believe I can thank Frank for this). You can't tell me that ain't the same model/CGI.

I viewed "Valiant" today and the USS Valiant has the exact same inconsistencies. Notice how the bridge outline is raised when it should be flush. The hull panels near the nose (where the pods come from) are also wrong compared to the original miniature.

This Valiant CGI is rubbish - at least the VisionArt one is indistinguishable from the proper miniature. Even so, I suppose it is possible they intentionally made the USS Valiant different from the NX Defiant. But they ruined that by later using the Valiant CGI for the NX Defiant anyway.
