I'm sure how many of you have seen this, but I found it just today. I thought I'd share it, because I seem to remember someone asking about it in a previous topic.
However, here's the information it provides. One wonders how Arturis knew how to design a plaque!

I'm afraid I don't know how to post pictures, so I you would like one, give me your email address or go to something like the LCARS Starfleet Database. You can find a link to this site at Ex Astra Scientia.

Clearly he just looked at the thousands of other pictures of plaques that I'm sure were on file on Voyager's computers... and made one up himself.

I think Sol Sector is given its name from Sol System. Sol System is our solar system, and it could be the only major system in it's sector, so they named the whole sector after the system. Don't they also refer to the sector Bajor is in as the Bajoran Sector or Bajor Sector?

One sector is 20ly to a side, correct? Therefore, the Sol sector is so named as it contains Sol, arguably the most important star system in the Federation, and all worlds within a 10ly radius of Sol...
The Sol sector is also known as Sector 001, of course...

Actually, in TBoBW, they seemed to enter Sector 001 and the Sol system at the same time. I think Sol is actually at one side of the sector. Probably the sector border coincides w/ the quadrant border, rather than the sector's being divided over two quadrants.
