Anyone else read their copy of Cinefex 49 recently...
In it is this paragraph from page 49:
The Enterprise - a thousand light years from Starfleet headquarters - meets with the Klingon flagship Kronos 1 in deep space. Early on, it was thought that a new spaceship model would be needed. "Paramount had already done some design work on this ship," said George. (Bill George I assume...) "Mark Moore and I did some additional sketches and I actually built a prototype. But it was ultimately decided that their wasn't money for this, so instead they decided to use the Klingon battlecruiser from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Originally...blah, blah, blah."
Looks like some interesting stuff might still be floating around...time to slip the Dogs of War...

Wouldn't that be Qo'noS 1? I figure that Kronos comes from the script for the benefit of the actors because that's how you say Qo'noS. I doubt the Klingons would spell their flagship in the English pronouncation of their homeworld.

I'm not saying you're wrong, they spell it like that in the encyclopedia too. I mean that I think it should be Qo'noS 1 instead of Kronos 1.
As to your reference originally being a new ship, that's the first I heard of it.

Interesting - I never knew that before. I do know that the TMP Battlecruiser model was refurbished for STVI. It's a shame they didn't build that new ship though.

Well, I agree with AndrewR, a bit cooler with a bigger ship. However, seeing that it could be called the Klingon flagship it would have been nice with a brand new ship. As for more info, how about someone mailing one of the modeling guys?

Nope. It doesn't rhyme with their (our?) policies. The biggest Fed-ship to date is of course the Galaxy-class, but it's not built for battle or it would wield a more impressive weapons-array.
Biig footnote: In the upcoming Trek-sim "Klingon Academy" it appears the Feds had one Missouri-class battleship and one "experimental" Yamato-class battleship at the time between "Final Frontier" and "Undiscovered Country", both very cool-looking screenshots and both so extremely non-canon any ship could ever hope to be. Of course, they were made to even the odds against the other races' ships, so it makes sense in the game.
