A few weeks ago, I was at a Trek site and came across the Excelsior-B Class. From what I've read, it's suppose to be a replacement for the Excelsiors. The thing is though, is that the Excelsior-B's look exactly like the Excelsiors, save for a few differences.
Anyways, that got me thinking, what would a 'Miranda-B' look like? So, that's the challenge I have for you all. Come up with a late 24th century version of the Miranda.

They've already got the Miranda-B. It's called the Centaur.

I would opt for a Nebula without a secondary hull... but where would you attach the sensor/weapons pod then?
BTW, I would say the Sovereign is the modern Excelsior.

FEATURES: [*]22-Tango series Captain's Yacht in place of old sensory domes (new sensor pallets pulled from Intrepid-class construction line). [*]Phaser Type X-II strips in place of old saucer Phaser Type V-IV turrets. [*]Bridge module SV-147B (similar to that of U.S.S. Voyager or U.S.S. Elkins). [*]Customized by SCE, LN-69-LBZ continuum-static warp nacelles (built over original outfit LN-64 nacelle superstructure). [*]New weapons/defense pods, customized by SCE as an abbreviated version Akira-73 Outboard and 2 retrofit UniCorp Delphi-B deflector lozenges at rollbar joints. [*]ablative armor hull skin (stardard mod-2).

Well, I guess that goes in spirit with the Excelsior-B. Good job, USS Captain...eh, Captain Mike.
Side note: Even the guy who designed the Akira said once he thought his ship brought a little of the "old Reliant" look to it.

I guess the Akira is like a modern Miranda. Except for the 15 torpedo launchers of death and the carrier ability.

I'd rather see a new hull design than that highly-improbable refit. Just change the hull to be more TNG era (oval saucer and all) like the BOBW kitbashes. It doesnt have to be much larger than the old Miranda though....mabye something the size of my Rigel class: 210 meters. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1301771&uid=657989
