Got the opportunity to borrow a digital camera so I figured I'd take some better shots of my scratch-built USS Canon. Haven't done any work on her since who-knows-when which is why the windows aren't painted in and the decals haven't been applied. Sorry JT, I'm just not worthy...
And if you think a 1/350 NX-01 or Refit is big, this is what 1/291.5 looks like

Funky, you say? I had to read that twice, I thought you said something different...
Well, it's just basically a TMP updating of the Saladin - including the nav. deflector.
And I know the "rules" - even numbered nacelles, front of the nacelles can't be blocked etc. Well, IMHO it's heresay - until I see a signed memo it's just Probert's word that that's what Roddenberry said. Besides, it's only because GR spat the dummy with Franz Joseph.
Anyways... the globe thingee (tech fails me) on the inside rear of the nav. deflector housing might have something to do with the space-energy field attraction sensors that're mounted on the side of the deflector housing. They could be directing (tech goes here) to the space energy/matter sink (acquisition) @ the front of the nacelle, thereby cancelling out any adverse affect caused by having the front of the nacelle obstructed.
I'm making all this up, can you tell? Except for the descriptive names - got them from Starship Design. But hey, if it sounds good and seems plausible...
