A friend of mine (Virtualscratchbuilder) on another forum jsut built....this!

Final assembled model - 557 individual pieces of wood - a new record.

Overhead

Starboard quarter close-up

Business end close-up

Starboard bow quarter from underneath

View down the starboard side of main hull

Out past wingtip looking back at starboard side

Blows my pitiful skills away!

He's also built a Valdore! [Eek!]

Ok, now let's analyze carefully the other contents of the workshop for clues as to the details of other starships they're working on.

Oh, wait a minute...

Seriously, I feel bad for his wife. But that is too cool.

Looks like the wood chipping machine had a case of supersonic diarrhea.

Ah j/k, the model is very nice and the builder is a wonderful man.

Wow! I checked out the rest of the site too. Incredible work! I build stuff out of lego so I can understand the sheer number of hours one can put in on a project like that. ( I'm on month ten of my 18th century 44 gun frigate built out of lego, its over 4 feet long and pisses my wife off thats its on top of the entertainment center [Smile] )

What I noticed in the background was the box for a Zenith Goldline inhaler, as I get oneevery month. With all the chemicals in wood finishing, I'm not surprised. [Smile]

The best part of his work is that he (now) models in 1:2500th scale- like myself!

He even built the world's second physical model of the Son'a Battleship mine own being the very first).

That's awesome. While it is already hard enough to reproduce the details, I wonder how it is possible to get the overall proportions right.

Does he do resin casting or just straight sheet?

It's wood and sheet styrene- almost completely wood though.

I'd love to get my hands on that- I could super-detail it with paint and custom decals and...

Yeah, its nice. especially if its wood. I had assumed he'd made part and resin-cast the rest. I remember when I had time to do the fun stuff.... sigh....
