This is my most Federation-looking ship I've made I think- it's not without its flaws- the escape pods are all way too big. It was meant to be a science vessel, the class named after Dr. Lenara Kahn.

And how much does one need to contribute to Starfleet, the Federation or culture as a whole to warrant getting a ship named after them?

Drat and that was my most non-fishy ship. Yes, yes, its Kahn, and not KHAN!!!! The ship was used in RP, which diverges greatly from what you know of Trek. In the short version of the story, an ancient Bajoran religious leader discovered the Celestial Temple and returned to Bajor- Bajorans began to explore space, more so in the Gamma Quadrant than the Alpha, because of the wormhole Bajor became the central hub of commerce, and grew rather powerful from this. Because of this, many things changed in the timeline. Cardassians never controlled Bajor, they started out as friends, and became founding members of the Federation, as did the Skrreeans, Vulcans & several other species. There was a war early on in their history with the TRogorans this was in an era when Humans were still using sails to travel the seas. The Dominion never formed because the Gamma Quadrant was a very different place. Lenara Kahn was also able to create an artificial wormhole- she failed in DS9, but only had a few years to study it, but with us the wormhole was known even before the Kahn symbiont was born. And that then ushered in a great age of exploration. until the part where Armageddon came when all was lost and but a few managed to slip out of that dimension into one more Trek in a RP chat room. Few of our ships have Terran names, theyre relatively new entrants into the Federation.
The sphere is actually an emitter for an energy weapon similar to a phaser- it can get hot from long duration firing thus it cannot be mounted directly on the hull of the vessel- having it away from the ship also allows it a very wide range of fire.

*L* I pondered not showing this one, as it even has a fishy class name, but I pondered showing this one will make people like the first one more. See, the first one is so not fishy.

I suggest simplifying the nacelles. One nacelle (with a single bussard) on each side would be better than two nacelles with four bussards. Also, what's that bomb-like thing?
How about converting that bead on a stick to a mount for a swappable weapons/sensor pod?

I agree, and 'the bomb thing' looks awfully 1930ish sci-fi, parts from Flash Gordon's ship?
Otherwise I like it, same with the Manta.

The reason the bomb was there was because I had actually made a fighter, the nacelles, and then the bomb was the fuselage, and it was all fused together as one object.

I dig the Manta a lot- jsut not as a Starfleet ship. Great civilian transport or luxury liner though. Kinda has a B5 look to it, IMHO- very Centauri looking.
One slight thing though- it's likely a software issue, but your lifeboats look very raised from the ship's hull- and they dont follow the graceful contour's you've designed- kinda looks like teeth....or Scrabble chits.
Mabye make them a slightly lighter version of the hulll color instead of white- that might blend them into the design more.
