Since First of Two has paved the way for stories here, I thought I'd share the very first bit of my galaxy spanning fanfic. Enjoy. Or not, I suppose. But tell me what you think anyway.
Lieutenant Kurt Stein stood outside the large double doors that marked the entrance to the brig aboard the USS Enterprise. He absent-mindedly smoothed his uniform in an attempt to give his hands something to do besides shake. With a deep breath he straightened and retrieved a padd from under his arm. A step forward and the doors split, ushering him into the room.
Only one cell was occupied, but the number of yellow-suited security personnel on duty were a hint as to the nature of its occupant. Each was armed. With a rifle.
Stein brushed past them and addressed the chief of the watch, Lieutenant Commander Corvux Dalus. "Lieutenant Stein reporting, sir."
Dalus glanced up. A Lamarkin, he was at least half a meter shorter than the average human and very slender. Easy to underestimate. That is, up to the point where you blinked for a moment and he had a phaser to your back.
"The JAG fellow, yes?" Stein nodded. "Well, I am not with envy for you. I am doubting greatly that it will even speak with you. Much less take advice."
"We all have our duties, sir."
"Huh! True enough. Yes, true enough. But I am appreciating mine more than yours, I think. This way." Dalus gestured Lieutenant Stein towards the back of the brig, where a single cell had undergone extensive reconfiguration for its current resident. "Uh, due to security considerations, it will not be possible for you and it to meet. In a single room, I mean."
"Yes, I understand. I trust there is a way for objects to be transferred?"
"One. Transporter. Expensive, but safe." Dalus eyed the prisoner.
"Well, I think that will be all, sir. Thank you. Now if my, uh, client and I could have a measure of privacy?"
"A measure." Dalus signaled to the three guards nearest the cell, who took up positions somewhat farther away. He mumbled to himself as he returned to his desk. "No...I do not have envy for you at all, Lieutenant."
Stein stepped up to the edge of the forcefield that surrounded the cell. "Good evening. My name is Lieutenant Kurt Stein. Im from the Judge Advocate Generals office, and Im going to be assisting you with the preliminaries regarding your defense. Um...how shall I address you?"
"If it is the primitive concept of a name you are searching for, I have none" the prisoner replied, "However, you may address me as those of your kind have always addressed those of mine. Changeling."

I always wondered what happened to the female chageling. She's pretty much responsible for the death of billions. Would the federation allow her to live? And would the klingons or romulan or cardassian seek vengence against her?

Sol, just a tip (not to imply any malice on the part of anyone here). Put up a copyright notice whenever you post anything original. Safe, safe for everybody :-)

Yes, copyrighting is a good idea. Create your own minor company. I came up with Rampant, because part of my family crest is a rampant lion.
Of course, if someone here were to swipe an idea from someone else, I trust we'd all notice and respond appropriately. (by stuffing a fusion bomb down their shorts.)
