Well, with all signs pointing to the pre-TOS series and cast list being the real deal, I'm working on the premises of a rather basic story idea, which I can then "fit" to whichever actual series it ends up becoming (although I am writing this treatment with the quite possibly incorrect understanding that the cast-sheet is maybe false).
This thread will keep the forums up to date on my progress. With luck (and a good amount of prayer from the more faith-minded among us), mayhaps my first writing credit will be from Star Trek: Enterprise ... (speaking of which, I'm changing my major from history to English with an emphasis in creative writing come Monday).
The steps involved are:
Writing a story (which is slowly crystalizing from a couple of different ideas tumbling about in my ever-so thick cranium -- now the hard part is sorting out all the thoughts and trying to tell a story about 'em -- difficult, especially when I'm going on a paragraph description of the characters I'm writing for -- and I don't even know if they're the right characters!!!)
Figuring out what the basic elements of Star Trek - Enterprise in regards to characters etc, are and then changing story to fit.
Writing rough-draft script. Re-write script until happy with.
Send in to Paramount.
Wait to hear from Paramount. Either get rejected, or possibly invited to LA to "pitch" the story to the writing staff, at which point it can either be rejected or bought.
If bought, it's very possible that there would be another re-write. If so, very unlikely that I would be the one doing the re-write.
Hopefully I would still get a set tour out of the whole experience (assuming I get invited to LA to pitch).
Wish me luck.

I should warn you, Julia and I both have degrees in English/CW. And we're both Star Trek fans.
This means one of two things:
From us, you can get honest, qualified, unbiased analysis of your work.
or...
You will be eaten alive.
Good luck. Ever consider writing a short story for Pocket Books' "Strange New Worlds" Star Trek fan anthology? You might actually stand a better chance of getting accepted, as they don't WANT 'pros.' And you can whet your claws on already-established Star Trek series.

As a matter of fact, I have been working on an idea for a TNG story to submit the next time they're putting together one of their books. Anyone got the link to the contest rules?

"Her real name is Julia. Her 'nickname' is Julie"
This is insane! They're two different names!
Not like 'Matt' from 'Matthew' or 'Mike' from 'Michael', but 'Kustenzeyov' from 'Bill'.
INSANE!

How about "Joe Green" from "Giuseppe Verdi."
