Well, the title is certainly apt. So, what is it, anyway? And why?

It's not THAT ugly.

Maybe if the secondary hull was above and ahead of the primary hull ...

Makes one wonder what you hope to accomplish by flipping the main hull upside-down...

Um, because it was new. And, uh, it looked cool...
I think. Here is a version with the main hull rightside up:

Which do you like better?

That's better.

However, maybe you can try inverting just the aft section of the saucer superstructure? That might be a compromise between the two configurations.

Second one definately. The hull flows much more smoothly.

You know, this would be a great idea for a Forum contest. See how much stuff you can add to the original Miranda design so that it can technically be regarded as a new class. I don't mean kitbashing or rearranging the original design, I mean adding so many original parts to the frame that the resemblance to a Miranda should be only a vague one at best. Put Greg Jein & his goofy Soyuz class ship to shame!

"A film made in 2008 isn't going to look like a TV series from 1966 if it wants to make any money. As long as the characters act the same way, and the spirit of the story remains the same then it's "real" Star Trek. Everything else is window dressing." -StCoop

You know Dukhat, that would be a good idea. You just need that era specifically parts. No Galaxy secondary hull. [Wink]

Yeah, that sounds sweet Dukhat. Although right now, I'm in the middle of a project of my own and I don't really want to put it off. [Frown]
