An interesting report on Crusade over at ISN from an article in SFX magazine:
quote:"No con is complete without an appearance by Michael J Straczynski. This year he did a solo panel in a large hall which began with a screening of a B5 montage set to Satr Wars music. Still reeling from TNT's cancellation of Crusade, JMS claimed to know little about the reasons behind the decision. A fan at the panel named Gira informed JMS that she has visited the Sci-fi Channel booth and heard fans asking about Crusade. According to Gira, they responded, "we're inundated with requests for that, but nobody has been able to get hold of whoever's in charge of it." The audience roared with laughter. JMS slumped. "I don't know what to tell you," he said. "Believe me,they know where to find me!"
Sort of makes you believe God still works in the universe.

By "whoever's in charge" perhaps they meant some executive at TNT. If I remember right, that network had some kind of exclusive deal for both B5 and Crusade, it seems possible that even though TNT cancelled crusade, they may still own the rights to it and are thus "in charge", in the sense that any resurrection would have to go through them.
If you ask me, Crusade would do quite nicely in sindication, although restarting it (getting actors, reassembling sets etc) may be a daunting task.

Well, currently, TNT owns the rights to air B5/Crusade until Feb 2000. It may do good in syndication, but I'm not quite sure. As for getting it restarted again, it wouldn't be too hard. The sets are at WB in "fold and hold" status and rounding up the production staff won't be too diffucult. The problems would be getting all of the original cast and a place to shoot. Martial Law is filming where B5 use to currently. Getting Gary Cole back could be a problem. All of the cast would love to start work again on Crusade, but this man doesn't have to look hard to find work. These would seem to be the major problems to settle through if Crusade was restarted.

I'm afraid, if it starts again, it will have some different actors. I think Sci-Fi knows who is in charge of "Crusade". They had some negotiations before it aired on TNT.

John Rhys Davies? The guy that played the first officer could be promoted, with Gidion moving on the the Rangers. If they go for a female, I hope it's not Lockly, she is better in small doses. Ivanova wont be back, but it would be nice if she did.

Yeah, there probably will be some new actors. I'd like it if Gary Cole could return. I'd expect that the actors will probably intentionally not schedule much of anything during February that couldn't be cancelled. Remember, every one of them would love to return to Crusade (even Cole). Still, unfortunately, there will probably be some changes (although not like Ricky Martin as Cap. Gideon!!!).

As G'kar once said, 'it's not like we expect you to vanish overnight to a strange posting on Minbar, why that would be unprecedented in the stations history'
Even ignoring the Sinclair/Sheridan thing, look at the cast of the pilot. You lost the Doctor, the First Officer, the Love Interest, and the Telepath. And the show coped fine.
The did get thrown by Ivonova leaving, but that was at the end of the series. It's be far easier to adapt at the start.

Well, the different thing about this is they've filmed 13 episodes while B5 ItB (not the movie) had only original pilot and nothing really keeping them together. I do agree that it is easier to adapt at the beginning than at the end and there will be some who won't comeback (I hope Cole does comeback, but I could do without Chambers).
