These weird-ass quickie credits are really starting to piss me off. I miss the theme song!!
I thought Carson was on Earth? Apparently they sent him back to Atlantis and then he went off into the 'wilds of Pegasus' and we just...didn't hear about it.

They did the quickie credits before... corresponded with season 9 of SG-1. They used them for half a season but people got pissy so they went back to the full ones.

Maybe they figure that since the show is cancelled, the don't need to worry if they piss off the fans or not.

Rev, do you really think that the executives at Sci-Fi would use the 50-odd seconds for more drama? Besides, I checked out the Atlantis page on iTunes, and all the episodes of the season have been about the same length (give or take eight seconds).
That extra time is definitely going to advertising. They must be using the Orb of Ultimate Evil again.

Yeah, that's more or less what I meant. With the increase in ad time, it's a choice between cutting scenes or the titles. Not much of a choice at all really. I think Galactica had the same issue, IIRC.

Interestingly enough, that's not the case with Galactica. In the podcast commentary for the third season finale, Ron Moore explained that they actually did cut out the credits in order to get more scenes in (and they got Sci Fi to give them an extra couple of minutes of time or something like that). I guess it goes to show that a really good show still has a bit of clout.

Carson WAS shown heading off into the wild yonder. At the top of his previous episode (with the lesbo AR team) he was packing up to head HOME after recovering and coming back to Atlantis, At the end of it, he realized he was of better use in the field, working basically independently with periodic ressupply. QED.

Oh. I didn't recall him deciding to work in the field instead; I just remembered him heading home, which is what confused me. My grateful acknowledgment of your correction to my original thought is hereby offered to you.
