Have any of you read the Necroscope books by Brian Lumley? I'm reading the first one right now, and have a question that you might know the answer to: Is the formula that Harry Keogh came up with to solve the trig problem (page 106-108 in my copy) real? It certainly sounds correct, and entirely logical, but the two professor characters are claiming nobody has ever used it before...since no name is given for it, it's sort of hard to search for on the math sites.

In any case, so far this book is kicking ass. I almost didn't pick it up because the cover is so cheesily horrific, I'm glad I did. It's reading like some kind of twisted X-files episode...

My flatmate was a big Lumley fan, and had the whole collection. I read the first two or three, but lost interest after that. I don't think they were very well written, really. Can't remember the maths formula, though, sorry.

Finished it last night. You were right about it being poorly written. Still, something about it tickled my fancy. Perhaps the unnecessary sex scenes?

it was amusing to me that both of the main characters had witnessed acts of lust as a child, and both of them mentally remarked on the large size of the male members, shocked and astounded by it, in fact. I do believe Brian Lumley was telling us something.

Otherwise, it was a nice way to spend a few hours of my life. Not as horrible as reading "Heidi", anyway. Can't complain there.
