It suggests the show has essentially imploded due to executive mismanagement. Of course, the article comes from Salon, which has itself imploded recently, and is weighed down with all the ponderous pretention that implies.
Still, it's somewhat interesting.
And Futurama has apparently been canceled as well. It's like a sharp spike is being driven into my eye!

Salon has always struck me as always having a rather terrible insight into any and all modern science fiction television, actually. Their stuff on Trek has been consistently irritating and pretentious and generally incorrect, basically equating NextGen's peak in quality and popularity to Roddenberry and lumping everything that's followed into the same category as Babylon 5.
Anyhoo, shame to hear about the fate that has befallen Stargate. At least Shanks still has a hot girly at home.

Hmmm...interesting little plot twists... I don't know. I have actually rather liked the "conspiracy theory" sort of twists to the whole thing. In my opinion, it's very realistic. As the Stargate program became more advanced and more known through the high levels of government, the stakes would obviously get higher and things would get more complex. I find it believeable. It's not like they've totally replaced the exploration side of things.
Vanessa Angel's Tok'ra character, Aniese (sp?), was only slightly Seven of Nine-ish. Yes...the pseudo revealing outfits, bare arms, and the offer of sex to Colonel O'Niell were a little obvious...but she wasn't in every episode and she wasn't part of the main cast.
It is too bad that Shanks' status on a return for sixth season guest appearances and participation in the movie is on shaky ground (if that's true). The chemistry between the four characters is really great.
