Has anyone else seen this show? I watched the third episode last night. I was just about to shut off the TV when I saw at the end of the credits "Created by J. Michael Straczynski". So, I figured I'd give it a look. I kinda liked it. I'm going to try and catch the next episode on Friday... Can anyone fill me in on exactly what's happened?

Well, Chris, that kinda depends on exactly WHEN you went to the moon. After all, far as I can tell the main point for watching the show was that it was JMS' new one. 8)

Not that that made me want to watch it, I might add, I barely watch SF Tv anymore.

Hello, all.

I've throughly enjoyed the episodes of Jeremiah that I've seen. The writing is shraper and more refined than in "Babylon 5" (the dialogue/humor isn't as cheesy as it was at time on B5).

Jeremiah is a show set after a deadly disease/virus wipes out all those of adult age, leaving behind a generation of children who grow up without parents. The lead character, whom the series is named after, is searching for the whereabouts of his father rumored to be a place known only as "Vahalla Sector."

It seems to me, that he has a contractual obligation to put nudity into eveyr episode. It's a pity that B5 wasn't done by showtime. There where more then one suggestive scene with Ivoniva and Talia Winters that needed some embelishment.

EHEM. Jeremiah seems a little slow to develope, considering the basic plot. Theyre creating trade and cooperation between the local towns and rooting out bad guys. They should be forming a closet empire by now.

Well, considering JMS' style, the first season is always a bit slow. He says he has a five-year novel plan for Jeremiah; therefore, season one is the introductory season before the rising action of season two, then the complication in season three, the climax in season four and, finally, the denoument in season five. Just like a novel.

Nudity in every episode? I watch it on TMN (which shows porn flicks now) and I haven't seen any nudity on it yet. Oh well. That's not the point of watching the show. [Smile]

I watched this whole series recently. It was not as cheeseball as I'd heard it might be. As was said above, I felt the writing and a lot of the characterization was stronger than on B5. Also Ingrid Kavelaars is teh hott. For those who find that sort of thing provocative, Tricia Helfer makes an appearance in the pilot and Kandyse McClure is a series irregular.

It filled a post-appocalypse shaped hole in what I wanted to watch. Malcolm-Jamal Warner was pretty impressive. Production design is great, and the big arc is very engaging. Sometime the little ones aren't. Hooray for canned goods as currency. Hooray for bullies vs. brains. Hooray for shifting conspiracies and charismatically optimistic leaders being protected by ruthless men who cannot share their optimism. My two (hopelessly outdated) cents.

Woah! Blast from the past!

You watched the whole series? How many years did it go for? 4? Was it cut short early or did it finish what it started?

I did watch the whole thing, and while it certainly had an ending, it was cut down in the bloom of youth. 2 years and 35 episodes. From the JMSNews Message Archive.

"...in that I have zero desire to return to a third season of Jeremiah. Showtime was great, no mistake, but MGM has overall been the most heinous, difficult and intrusive studio I've ever worked for. I've worked for, and had great relations with, Viacom, Universal, Warner Bros., and a bunch more. But I will never, ever, work for the present administration at MGM."
It's not my favorite show ever or anything, but it was pretty interesting and entertaining with really excellent handling of the big arcs.

When you hear about how JMS has so much trouble working with so many different people, you begin to wonder where the trouble actually, really, lies.

Thought this was a new thread! So, rather concerned to see I'd already replied in it.

Incidentally, on a post-apocalyptic-shows-sharing-several-syllables-of-name note, what's this Jericho like then?

Jericho is better.

And as I've said before, jms is a one-trick pony who can't work with handlers. B5 was great; but B5 gave him near-complete creative control, and he apparently can't go back. We've all noticed that he hasn't had a hit since then; the above quote is certainly part of the reason.

OK So TNT were good guys? I thought they were supposed to be the worst - according to JMS.

They only took over in the fifth season of B5 and for Crusade, and it was only Crusade they screwed with. Or such was my understanding.
