I can appreciate that you based it off the actual dialogue from the miniseries but as a real phonetic alphabet for the BSG Universe you would just be asking for confusion. Most of the words listed could be used in the common vernacular of navigators or pilots in an interstellar capable fleet.

That's occurred to me, along with the fact that the real military alphabet is deliberately composed of short, one- or two-syllable words for rapid communication under combat conditions. But, as you say, I based this list off the actual show dialogue.

Once we know what they are, mabye the twelve colony names would cover some of the letters:
C-Caprica (for example)

That covers A, C, G, L, P, S, T, and V. Kobol can cover K. Earth can cover E.
The rest could use ancient Earth gods since the whole religious philosophy is already based on Mormonism anyway.
That would also have the benefit of not being commonly used words for official military communications.
