I just joined and don't want banned, so I'm trying to be careful. I wrote the above titled novel. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll check this board every now and then.

Interesting. A quick Google shows he's registered at just about every SF forum he can to promote his book. Not a word about what his book is about or why we should read it (let alone buy it). "Don't want banned?" I hope the book's better written than that. Not that I'll ever bother to find out.

I'll have the sausage, bacon, egg, and spam, but without the spam, please.

Maybe he's from western or central Pennsylvania. People here tend to not understand the usage of the verb "to be" & its variant conjugations. (ex.: "This needs done."

Wow 2 spammers in one day! This is turning out to be some Fourth of July! I think its time we build a wall around Flare that will keep spammers from posting stupidity on the forum as well as taking away jobs from Americans. I'll notify President Bush right away.

I think the book covers the rarity that two 'writers' come from the hollow spaces of the net to post crap.

We need to build a giant wall along the border between Flare and the rest of the Intarweb, and we also need to call out the National Guard to help Charles in patrolling said border. Naturally, spammers will be shot on sight, and no questions asked later.

It would be funny if all spammers posted like movie Mexicans talk.

Thanks for the replies. At least there's someone alive on this board. Such is not always the case on some forums.
If you Google, there are several blurbs posted about "Rarity from the Hollow" -- including one by Piers Anthony. It's also mentioned in Mr. Anthony's newsletter. The promo is available from www.fatcatpress.com, as is a sample.
The dialogue is colloquialism (West Virginia) that matures as the protagonist ages. The cover was done by Jag Lall, an English comic book artist (pro bono and surrealism).
Lacy Dawn is a preadolescent victim of child abuse from an impoverished hollow who is empowered to save the universe -- a recurring theme that associates her ability to experience fun.
A satirical essay about its self-promotion was published last week in Wingspan Quarterly. It also shares character development.
Your comments are atypical, probably because I tried a different approach to advertising on this site. I've been criticized for being "too formal" in my spam posts and have been advised by various authors to try lots of, often incongruous, things -- intentional misspellings, down-home flavor, slang, etc. I apologize if this approach didn't fit the audience. I'd appreciate advice.
Nevertheless, "Rarity from the Hollow" has been fully edited (the acquisitions editor for the University of Michigan Library, in addition to being the owner of the press), it's not self-published (competitive submissions), and I'd appreciate more than juvenile reaction to my spam.
Except for a couple of poems written while in college thirty years ago, this is my first fiction. All of my other numerous writing credits are published nonfiction and in my professional field -- child welfare. Anything that you can do to help promote this novel would be appreciated.
And why? I'm a therapist in a chldren's mental health facility. A percentage of proceeds will prevent child abuse in an impoverished state that underfunds programs. Plus, it's a fun read if you really like soft science fiction / fantasy.

You fail to understand the situation. Every member that registers here at Flare must agree to the User Agreement.
quote:From the User Agreement you agreed to: Do not post for the sole purpose of advertising your website, service, or product. You should be here to participate in the discussion, not to drive traffic to your site.
Yet, every so often, we have someone such as yourself that still insists upon violating this part of the Agreement. It is not your style of spamming that is the problem, it is the fact that you have spammed at all.
As for the "juvenile reactions"...
quote:From the User Agreement you agreed to: Finally, some words about the Flare community. We've been around for a long, long time. We've grown comfortable with each other, and tend to be a little on the elitist side when dealing with new members.
And we tend to be especially elitist when dealing with new members who break the rules.

Odd, MM pulled his punch. Getting soft old man?
Well, Bob, not that this is the place for such, but name a state that properly funds any activity for any disadvantaged individuals.
You method of advertisig needs a LOT of rework, there are better ways than this by far. Some with the same cost as joining a forum and posting.

Wow, those are like text-book examples of what it takes for an email to be deleted from my inbox. Did these 'authors' also claim that the wolverine makes a good house pet?
