According to this article, we'll finally see a J-class vessel, the E.C.S. Horizon.

Sorry, PsyLiam. [Wink]

For, er, what?

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

For mentioning the J-class.

I think we have already seen a *perfect* candidate for this ship class: the alien freighter from "Precious Cargo". Only the nacelles had the wrong color. IMHO there's no need to build another model, except that Starfleet obviously didn't yet know these aliens, and it would seem unlikely that they flew a human Warp-2 ship.

I think it's time to resuscitate a clich.

The "fuck?"

Who are you, and what have you done with the old Bernd?

Most likely the J-class would be a smaller (possibly meaning shorter) version of the Y-class.

From memory, the J Class was described as a smaller version of the Y Class seen in the "Fortunate". [Roll Eyes]

[A very small trivia note, of no value at all. There was a ship named Horizon which operated on the Liverpool to New York route in 1850.]

And more trivia: Mudd had an old J class ship. And IIRC, a malfunctioning baffle plate on a J class ship caused Pike's injuries. *Blip!*

There's an interesting coincidence. According to the novel "Dwellers in the Crucible", Admiral Nogura (mentioned in TMP) commanded the J-class vessel USS Horizon.

Why do I hate people saying "J-class" again? I've forgotten.

I think what Bernd was trying to say was that they could have saved the alien cargo ship CGI model to have it represent the J-Class, since it looked somewhat similar to the Fortunate, and instead used a more alien-looking design for the Retellian's ship. But we've already had this discussion.

My two cents: Since the 22nd century according to B&B seems to establish that Starfleet has very few ships right now, perhaps when the Federation is formed, all of the J, Y, NX, Q, P, etc. human ships will be integrated into the Fed Starfleet. Perhaps Mayweather's ship will even be the vessel which makes contact with the Iotians...

In that case, Sisko's desktop model wasn't the ship from TOS.

Moreover, it would contradict the Horizon's Encyclopedia entry. I think I like the idea. [Big Grin]

That would be the assumption, yes, because we all know how canon desktop models are. [Big Grin]
