Hi! I was watching "What You Leave Behind" (DS9), and I have two questions. What ship did Adm. Ross using? was it the Bellerophon or was it another ship? I was trying to finger it out by looking at the computer display in the background. And the Defiant's dedicication plaque, it look like the Sao Paulo plaque but it looks like it said Defiant, so is this a new plaque, and if this is, what does it say?

1. No ship is mentioned in dialogue. Anyone with the DVDs care to access the script? Anyway, the recent rear displays, while inconclusive, seem to indicate that he's standing in front of the Defiant engine room wall consoles - which makes sense, since they were not seen otherwise.
2. The Sau Paulo's dedication plaque is clearly seen in its premiere episode. If it's visible in "What You Leave Behind", they either kept the Sau Paulo plaque or replaced the original; either way, I really doubt they'd come up with an entirely new plaque that wouldn't be seen - by this point in the franchise they weren't paying as much attention. My guess is that they left it as Sau Paulo.

According to the Titan Fleet Yards script database it doesn't seem to mention a specific ship. Just Martok on a Klingon ship and Ross on his ship.

I seem to remember the novelization actually did mention the name of Ross's ship as well as the Romulan flagship's name (Derid'thau) that wasn't mentioned in dialog.

According to the novelization, Ross was aboard the Farragut.

It's entirely possible that the ded plaque aboard the the Sao Paulo read "Defiant", because, as you'll recall, they got special dispensation to rename the Sao Paulo, "Defiant". Sisko probably had a new plaque replicated at the same time he had a crew on the hull repainting the name and (unfortunately) the registry.
As to the Farragut issue, the novelizations shouldn't be considered canon, since the writer probably picked the name out of nowhere. Plus, it was never mentioned in the episode.
Also, where does everyone get the idea that the Bellerophon was Ross' ship? It seems to be a courier vessel that Ross simply took to Romulus. Since we didn't see any Intrepids during any battle, we can assume they were elsewhere (the real reason being, the producers didn't want to have cross-series ships).

Veers: Actually, three years. Farragut was destroyed in "Nor the Battle to the Strong", at the top of the 5th season. The DS9 finale was therefore almost three years later.
While Ross's ship name is hardly canon and should not be treated as such, it helps a lot more than "Ross's Ship". On the TABASCO project, I'd like to use that name with a clear mention that it was from a non-canon source.

In the Avatar novels, Ross used the Prometheus (or a Prometheus-class vessel, don't remember the details). That would be as canon as the Farragut. Even if the background of the shot was supposed to be a Defiant-class ship - where's the problem? Ross commands a Starbase, so why shouldn't he have a Defiant, too? And there were some additional Defiants in the fleet. To be precise, not in the actual footage of the episode, but we have seen other Defiants before in the fleets, which makes them at least more common than the Intrepid.

The USS Cerebus (much as I hate that ship class) Makes sense: as Starfleet's fleet commander he'd need to get to where ever in a hurry and not get blown up in the process.
I prefer to think of his ship as a servicable second prototype rather than that ship having been commisioned so quickly.

Wouldn't one want to put the high-technology Prometheus class in the very thick of the fighting, a place one would want to keep admirals out of?
(Ross presumably being able to escape the dramatic and budgetary requirements which put Sisko on the Defiant.)
