Erm. Automatic transmissions don't usually have clutches...
You might want to drive your car a little better with this clutch. A new(ish) Celica shouldn't burn out a clutch that quickly. Hell, my 88 Ranger has the original clutch.

In British traffic, you get used to doing that. In fact, it was a major part of my control technique. I was actually quite worried about how I'd handle an automatic while in the US, without a clutch to affect my speed.

Was your trip to the US the first time you'd ever driven an automatic? Yeah, its amazing how many Americans just get an automatic without bothering to learn how to drive a manual. Sure it's tough at first, but it gets better the more practice you have.
OTOH, if I went to England, I think I'd stick with an auto rental just because trying to get used to driving on the opposite side of the street AND trying to shift with my left hand would probably cause me to wreck into (most likely) the only deer wandering around London.

I was concerned about having to get used to both the wrong side of the road and an automatic, but a couple of turns around a McDonalds car park in southern Oregon soon sorted me out. I soon forgot about the automatic aspect once I found that I could control the car's speed just as well using the brakes; driving on the right took a little longer to get used to.

Normally I'd jsut assume that the innuendo was meant, but with Andrew it's anyone's guess.

Got it back this morning. Shifted into reverse ... let off the clutch ...
And the car just JUMPED back! I nearly wrecked it. New clutch'll take some getting used to, but it is nice to have the pep back. Last week that car could barely outdrive a turtle - today it'll outrun the Millennium fuckin' Falcon!
