People have often asked me to make handle pictures for them to use in RP chat rooms, so I pondered I'd toss a few up- As a copyright notice, I did not photograph any of the human models/actors/actresses that were transformed.
An Andorian fellow
Romulan/Klingon Hybrid
Bolian female
Cardassian/Bajoran Hybrid

Very nice work!

I wonder how that Romulan/Klingon hybrid got so pronounced Romulan ridges? The hybrid shown on TNG looked Klingon except for pointed ears...
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Klingons seem to have very diverse ridges as it is- they seem almost like fingerprints, but a child's do seem similar to the parents. It did seem like Ba'el (the hybrid girl) had a dorsal ridge (what ran from the nose straight up) that was half that of what her mother's in both how wide it was, and how much it protruded. So I'd say the Romulan DNA lessened what she probably would have had if her father was another Klingon (if the father had similar ridges). Romulans tend to have diagonal "V" shaped ridges above and between her eyes- Her mother however had horizontal ridges in this area, but Ba'el had a huge V, which I feel she got from her father, and the her mother's Klingon DNA made it more pronounced. Its all a genetic dice roll, especially with hybrids. Bael does have a lot more texture to her ridges than what I chose to give to my hybrid, but BElanna Torres turned out very smooth- If I were forced to guess her ancestry, Id guess 1/4th Klingon rather than .

Interesting to see a Human thrown into that Romulan/Klingon mix - then maybe a Cardassian and a Ferengi!
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
And what Colour whould an Andorian crossed with a member of the species from "The Apple" be!?! Purple?
Were these pics done digitally or using hand drawing? Very well done!
Posted by Kobi (Member # 1360) on :
They are excellent!
Especially cool is the Bolian one with the rectangle composition, my arts teacher would jump high...
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Some species will not be compatable- I really don't see how any species is compatable... I mean- any earth mammal should be genetically more similar to us than any other Humanoid alien. But scientists and doctors have tinkered over the years to make things possible. In Enterprise they said it would be impossible to have A Human/Vulcan hybrid, but then later Phlox made it possible, or will make it possible.
I've really only made images of hybrids that I know are possible... that, and a Cardassian/Ferengi would be scary!
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
(I used Photoshop to do them all)
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
Heheheh Captain Boday crossed with a Sheliak!
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
I'm not sure I've seen a Sheliak in good light- they seemed to hide themselves... -I would hope that the transparent skull gene would be recessive. I think what would be worst would be a Ferengi/Galamite A four hemisphere brain that you could see! Here are a few more of the images I've made:
Vulcan Female (I know the name isn't that Vulcan, but that's what they wanted.
Cardassian/Bajoran female.
Romulan male- I was pondersome about the Roman attire, but he was from a well-to-do house and they seemed ok together.
Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :
That last one seems a bit Romeulan, with that wreath on his head.
Excellent photoshoping.
The whole inter-species breeding would never work- consider that Cardassians are cold-blooded, while Bajorans are warm-blooded, yet, they can (somehow) procreate?
I could see Vulcans and Romulans breeding (as they should still be virtually identical) but that's about it.
It'd be funny to see a humanoid preggers with a Tholian crossbreed- talk about passing a stone!
Posted by Dat (Member # 302) on :
Jennifer Garner looks very good as a Vulcan. On the other hand, I'm not so sure about a Romulan Joaquin Phoenix.
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Yeah... that would be... bad. Tholians require very different living conditions, much hotter than a Human could stand... so hopefully they aren't in the same place long enough to ever have a writer try to breed the two! I feel that they really should have limited the interspecies breeding to species with similar characteristics at least. Like two species with blood based off of different elements shouldnt be able to breed.
Ive read that Cardassians are only quazi-cold blooded- they do like things warmer than Humans, but are not completely cold blooded, and among Cardassians, there are two races, those with the pigment-free gray skin, and those that are tan skin (mostly TNG) and the tans tend to be more warm blooded. Xindi Reptilians are truly cold-blooded though- since they require warming light beds.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
When considering interspecies breeding, always remember Scorpius.
Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :
I'd rather not think of him breeding, thanks.
Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :
Sikozu obviously thought about him breeding. A lot. Although she got pretty funky in the miniseries.
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
I'm not sure what is being discussed now *L* *digs about for more pics*
I didn't make this Cardassian- just arranged things.
A Romulan...
I did not draw the face, someone supplied it with several others and asked me to make them an image to use in a chat room- I really liked that face though, and drew the rest of the pic in Illustrator so it'd match.
Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :
That face is Jennifer Lopez.
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Indeed it is... Nobody has commented on who they think the Bolian is though. I'm not even certain who my Cardassian/Bajoran female is, but I think she's an actress. All the others that have not been named are models and probably aren't very known.

A species I invented:
Hattra: The Hattra are the largest ethnic group on Delta Orellius. Their skin pigmentation is normally a light green, to green yellow, with darker spots on the temples, cheeks, throat and much of their lower body. They have an upper and lower pointed ear and have ridges on their tympanic and jaw bones. Hattra always have red hair, females of the species tend to always have long hair that is elaborately woven. Physically they can be above average in strength and intellect. The Hattra culture is noted for several technological advancements, and were the first Delta Quadrant species to develop omega energy. Hattra have an average life span of 45 to 50 years they value quick action in the war to retake their fallen homeworld.

Looks vaguely Denobulan.
Posted by Kobi (Member # 1360) on :
^sets you as an Enterprise watcher, I had to think of a Cardassian
true TOS-er would think Vulcan I presume because of the ears, the pigment colour could remind a VOYager of Talaxian
Though I can't figure what a TNGer would think, his eyes are not dominant enough to make one think of an Android
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Where'd you read that in a christmas bon-bon - it's utter crap. Or at least completely non-canon.
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
That is how a number of fan groups have chosen to rationalized why there are two differently pigmented Cardassians, the Gul Macet kind and the Gul Dukat kind. The Gul Macet tan ones also had very less pronounced neck ridges.
So he looks like a Cardassian, Denobulan, Talaxian, Vulcan lovechild with prosthetic eyes? *hangs head in shame*

More the shape of his eyes and jaw- makes him look like the actor that played Dr. Phlox. See? Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Ah indeed- So, do you think he should be allowed into Trek?
I started on an image for someone that wanted a Rigellian, mayhaps I'll post it when I finish.
Posted by Shakaar (Member # 1782) on :
Here's the Rigelian- made after the Enterprise Rigelians, in a lot of fan sites there are two Rigelians, ones that look like this, and then there are the turtle people, who were filmed for one of the early movies, but then didn't make the cut- yet they were released by the studio as "Rigellian Ambassadors" There is great contradiction in the location of Rigel, some uses of it have it extremely close to Earth, others have it distant, so it is suggested that there could be two planets with very similar names, or two races of Rigelian- or perhaps they just remade them and hoped people wouldn't try to rationalize it.

Hello,
I've made some pics myself, for our RolePlayingGame, Priority Romulan:
A Half-Romulan and her son:
A Romulan Family -including some 'real' romulan Characters - I know-
A Reman-Romulan Hybrid and a Romulan-Betazoid Hybrid:
Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :
So the offspring would be 1/2 Romulan 1/4 Reman 1/4 Betazoid... I wonder how all the different 'psyonic powers' would interplay.
I wonder if there is a limit as to how many species can interbreed... Denobulan, Human, Vulcan, Cardassian, Bajoran, Deltan raised by a Tellurian and a Talarian. God-parents are Telerian and Tamarian.
Posted by Sareth (Member # 1947) on :
well, really strong telepath, I think. But it never went that far with the two chars...
Here's another one: romulan Senator's wife with her child

If my memory of "Future Tense" is correct, I don't think there is a limit. Phlox was amazed at the DNA hodgepodge that was the dead timepod pilot.
Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :
Mark wants a picture of a Starfleet officer. A CLASSIC QUADRUPED UNICORN, who is a Starfleet officer. 'Cuz dammit, unicorns are people too!
Note that this has nothing to do with a rather interesting race relations conversation I was having with the girl I was dating recently.

Sorry, I thought this might be a place for serious discussions about how to make such species "artwork", to display some and enjoy in the work of others.
As I see, I was mistaken.
Admins, You needed a week to check if I'm worthy to have an account to post something - it's really funny regarding these messages. You may delete my account. Thanks

Looks like I came late to the party.. anyway, your images look pretty good. One suggestion I would make is to try evening out the colours. There's a bit to much of a variation between the real person's skin colour and the tone of the alien parts. Just using hue/saturation should be enough to fix that up.

Try not to take it too personally. We're tough on new guys. Even says so in the user agreement.
It is quite a different type of art than we're used to as well. Most of us were drawn together because we liked the tech aspects of Trek, so most of what we see are along the lines of ship designs. Romulan family portraits are a new one on me, probably to most of everyone here.
They are fairly good for what they are, though. Although the half-Reman looks kinda off.
Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :
Not plagiaristically alarming, just. . . alarming. Romulan family photos? What'll they have next? Romulan Myspace? Actually, "Myspace" is generally their term for other people's territory, boom boom. . .

If a blue andorian and a green orion had a kid, what color would it be? teal?
Posted by Sareth (Member # 1947) on :
@Johnny: thanks, will try it next time! I use Photoshop, surely I can make some saturation-experiments....
@Lee: why no romulan family-photos? They have families too I must confess, pics two and three are made by request. But I've established romulan culture on my website as real family-friendly and traditional, to have some counterpart for federation. Hm...it's like...perhaps: modern day people say in New York and a traditional catholic rural Italien family....Even in Nazi-Germany it was important to strenghten the families, to have many children for military service.
(I do not know, what exactly "Myspace" is...)
But I also have other stuff, not so lovely:
(Its the illustration for a Mirror-Universe-Story)

Also there are some problems with the light sources and where hilights and shadows fall in the composited pictures. I realize it's a really hard thing to do. The physiology looks pretty good.

I think I've finally discovered what, precisely, "flabbergasted" feels like.
Not that it's a bad thing, but your quote is approximately equivalent to saying "Who's this 'Jesus' fellow I hear people talk about from time to time?"
Posted by Sareth (Member # 1947) on :
@bx: yes, that's difficult. I make additional lightsources, but can't dissolve the problem with the original pictures. Some artists make photographs of people and use these with exact light composure they need, but I use only things I find in the web. This is sometimes hard enough...
@TSN: Okay, I'm not sittingg 24 hours a day in front of my computer, have also other things to do (I'm a historian, by the way), and I'm not that young to know all that stuff....
