MIDI format is designed to synthesize the sounds of various instruments and such. Are you sure it's even possible to use it to replicate a transporter sound, much less that someone has already done it?

Yeah, I found the wav-file, but that didnt work for me. You see, Im going to use it in my mobilephone. And, no, I have no idea if the midi-thing will work. I tried download.com and downloaded a bunch of converters, but it didnt work..
Mp3-file? Could you upload it here? mp3 works for me...

the phone accepts midi and mp3, but not wav, sucks..

I'm always in the market for a good Zat gun sound. . . The one I had wasn't very good quality, and sounded really annoying as my ICQ new message alert. My earlier choices (B5 door chimes, original and later Crusade) worked much better.

My ICQ message alert used to be Eric Idle in Holy Grail getting shot with an arrow and saying "Message for you, sir!" Boy, did that ever get old.

Sounds like a great idea though! Would you be ubernerdly enough to say "Chevron x encoded" after you dial each number!?! [Big Grin]

My phone only says the standard (female voice) "You have an incoming call" for all numbers but says it in japanese for my best friend and when work calls, it shreiks (a scream from some horror movie) like a woman.

The shrieking takes some getting used to- although it's not very loud, it can startle you if you're asleep.

The Borg's "Resistance is futile" line would be nice to have for work though.

Well, I did convert the wav-file of about 10 kb to mp3, but it increased in size to 130 kb and decreased significantly in quality :-( There was this hissing background noice that almost drowned out the transportersound itself...

I have the theme from Thundercats as my ring tone. And I take perverse pleasure waiting to the "Thunder-thunder-thunder-THUNDERCATS..." bit before answering with "Ho?" I am that cool.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.
