I was just watching First Contact and I was wondering, is there a blueprint available for the Ent-E corridor sets(for FC,INS,NEM)? I tried drawing them but the way they filmed/changed sets is really messing with me.

Thanks if anyone can help!

There are "Making of" books of all three movies, I think... At least the "Insurrection" one has a set plan, although it is inconveniently printed and really difficult to scan. I'm not aware of online sources for this plan, but I'll try and look.

Did they even GO in the corridors in Insurrection?

I thought we only really saw the bridge and the captain's yacht - oh and the transporter room and Worf's Gorch - or however you say it.

Insurrection had a lot of interior scenes: I think they even built a new corridor for the one where our heroes walk from the turbolift to the lounge for the diplomatic reception. Then there are of course the couple of reused VOY set elements.

The Insurrection book had a convenient ability to completely fall apart, so getting scans of the double paged spreads shouldn't be difficult for some people.

The most I've figured out about the First Contact sets was just a written description in the GEN/FC book:

"We had a lot of corridor--two full quarter-circles of it, with a couple of T-intersections and walways. You could walk for a good five minutes from the engine room set through Jefferies tubes without every walking out of the set."

It also goes on to mention that there was a second level of corridor around Engineering.

Oh, the additional corridor in INS was built onto the observation set behind the bridge, you can see by the way it bends that the turbolift was right behind it.

That's all I've got thus far.

The "second level of corridor" isn't a full set - it was mostly stuff built above and around the exterior of Engineering that isn't visible until the ship got Borgified. Remember the drones dropping from alcoves on the level above? That was pretty cool, but the second floor hasn't been seen since.

The redress of the bridge observation lounge as the Deck 9 lounge, plus the new corridor and turbolift station, are shown on page 180 of "The Secrets of ST:INS" by Terry Erdmann. But that's basically all there is on the E-E interiors in that book. The only other set drawing is of the So'na bridge...

There were several corridor scenes in Insurrection, including:

-The gang walking from Picard's quarters to the Turbolift

-Picard and Geordi heading to Engineering

-Everyone chatting about pimples, shaving, and Data's fine caboose on the way out from the transporter room

The entire coridor set must have been assembled for the movie, including the construction or moving of at least part of the transporter room set from Voyager's stage for that one shot (we didn't see the console, just a blank wall behind where everyone was waiting).

Hey, does anyone recall any significant corridor scenes in Nemesis? I can't recall any walk-and-talks offhand, though they did a ship prep montage shortly before everything started exploding...

Only the shootout between Worf, Riker, the Viceroy, and the Remans and then LaForge letting Data jump out into space toward the Scimitar. Oh, also Picard walking out of his quarters at the end of the movie leaving B-4 there. There's also the deleted scene with Troi and Picard walking along discussing Shinzon.

Right... With that memory jog, I'd suspect that not the whole batch of corridors was re-erected for Nemesis. In fact, I'd hazard that they went all-out in First Contact so that they'd a) have all the extra corridor they'd need to Borgify half of it at least in the first battle scene around Engineering, plus the evacuation scenes with those silly snow shovel doors; and b) so they would have EXTRA corridors later for subsequent unknown movie needs. Neither Insurrection nor Nemesis made such good use of the ship sets as First Contact.

EDIT - and as we're talkign about this...

Yeah, YOU try to fit that in the exterior superstructure of the model. [Wink]

FUTHER EDIT - that whole site contains numerous clues as to just how much space they had for corridors on ALL the Trek productions. Note that the TNG movie sets in particular were moved around for each production, as they would be struck entirely between movies and re-erected wherever it made the most sense.

I don't think that they moved the transporter room for Insurrection. If I remember, we didn't even see them exit a door way from the room, they just exited the frame.

I also believe that the section where Data compares Riker's shaven face was in the side corridor of the Stage 8 Voyager set (where the mess hall and senior officers quarters were).

Now that I think about it, the more that I look at the sets, the more I'm convinced that a lot of sets were redressed Voyager rooms (transporter room, officer's quarters, some corridors, ect...).

I still want to know what the little semi-circle thing Lily and Picard walked aroun in First Contact was. It didn't look like anything else we've ever seen in the corridor sets.

Nothing was ever mentioned in the script (or at least whatever online ones I could find, which are radically different from what we got). I thought we concluded a while ago that they were most likely just bigger Jeffries tubes. Most other starships had standing-up-sized tubes here and there in addition to the crawlways, including the Pre-E, E-nil (retroactively seen with the Defiant), E-A, E-D, etc.

That, or the corridor had some barriers erected down the middle as a partition for the go-kart rally championship. You see, shipboard events had become somewhat more liberal since all the children were killed along with the Enterprise-D...
