Working on a ship (maybe for the Earth-Romulan war) based on the Intrepid from enterprise.

Looking good so far.....
I'd like to see something Andorian with those nacelles on it, or mabye something Vulcan.
Just to show the sharing of technologies during wartime.

Remade the nacelles, and started a engineering hull.

The pylon attachement points at both hull & nacelle look like hinges...is this thing gonna swing? Also, what's the hole under the deflector? Neck attachment point? Have the deflector shooting over the saucer/disc/sphere/whatever?

The pilon attachment points are temp, not quite sure how I want to go yet, plus I don't like the idea of pivoting wings on a starship!

The hole beneath is a torpedo tube, I'm considering setting it back a bit though.

At the back of the bottom of the engineering hull is the shuttlebay access.

The Saucer I'm working on at the moment will be in the Traditional position.

That could be taken several ways Jason.....

Anyway on with the Update! My wee fella has an upset tummy, so he decided to throw up when I got home from work.....three times... Thus I have had ample time to work on the model as I do laundry at 2:35 in the AM

Recessed the Torp tube, decided to keep the after section of the engineering hull smooth and added a rear deflector array. Mocked up a shuttle based on the dimensions of the ENT shuttle (just for size) and added shuttlebay. Brought over the saucer and fitted the bridge in a low, forward position. Neck added....

Not sure how I feel about the rear deflector array, but I really like where the overall shape of this thing is headed. Can't wait to see more.

Yeah I just threw that in, most likely I will replace it with a somewhat traditional shuttlebay. I'm not happy with the drop bay from a functional standpoint. Unfortunatly my little guys been sick so not much has been done, I had intended to be detailing the saucer by now.

Question. One torp tube capable of multiple torpedoes or TWO smaller tubes, I've been debating that. Any opinions?

The trend in the canon universe seemed to be for fewer and fewer tubes as time passed. Perhaps this ship ought to have at least six?

A clustered multi-barrel arrangement might look cool, without being some sort of a super-duper gatling mechanism.

I don't know, the multi-barrel thing might be too ber (does munchkin apply to ship-design?). I think one would be modest, two would be fine and three might be overkill.

I like it a lot. Especially since you are going with a traditional arrangement of saucer and nacelles.

Are you going to give the ship metallic hull panels like NX-01 or rather a smooth gray surface like NCC-1701?

I'm thinking smooth grey......I'm still not happy with the shuttle bay arrangements in the secondary hull. I've tried several ways and am still left wanting, because in my 'internal' arrrangement (in my mind mostly) I've allocated the top half of the cigar to engineering. Centre top will be an engineering room 60 feet long and 25 feet high, build along the lines of the TOS engineering. Since the hull has a 50 foot diameter at it's widest this takes up a lott of room.....I might cut the bays from 4 to 2. I will post an update this weekend. I've made 2 smaller torp tubes instead of the 1 big one.

What do you think of the leading edge bridge location?
