Dick van Dyke looks like a very typical Dutch name to me...
IMDB.com: Richard Wayne Van Dyke (Dick van Dyke) Date of birth: 13 December 1925 Born in: West Plains, Missouri, USA

I believe that was a reference to van Dyke's role in Mary Poppins, which I understand included adopting what is generally considered among the worst imitations of a British accent ever. I don't know, though. I've never actually seen the movie.
As for the other thing... Yes, the vast majority of Americans are mindless TV-watchers. I won't go into the "religious fanatic" bit, since that pervades the entire world. After all, didn't someone just mention Ireland...? :-)

Not exactly, JK. That's how many MORE votes he gets than the original count. Gore'd have to be up by 1700 just to tie Bush.

Well I for one hope Bush does win, that Darrel guy on SNL has got to play the president enough, why give him 4 more years as Gore, let another guy make his career making fun of the president. Besides his Gore is a little weak, but that Bush guy is pretty funny. ------------------ "Life sucks, then you die"

I was watching The Daily Show last night... he and another comedian(I forgot his name) were saying that its good if Bush wins, so they can roll out more jokes.
