From what I know, 'Oy" is a Yiddish exclamation.

"Oy" is Yiddish for "oh."

So, "oy vey ish mir" means "oh whoa is me."

Like he said, "oy" is Yiddish. And, to my knowledge, "oi" is simply a misspelling thereof, whereagainst I do my best to set a good example, but everyone continues to propogate the corruption, nonetheless...
