Normally by going to display properties, and moving along that little resolution slider.
It could be that your monitor can't cope with resolutions that high.

If it's any consolation, Liam, two of the computers at my mother's office are running Windows 3.11 with a screen resolution of 640 by 480. And then there's the other computer in the corner that still runs MS-DOS 3.something.

That's three computers, Liam... and one virtual. I.e. it exists within one of the other three, but operates on its own.

Here at work, which is all that really counts for me, Windows 95, with all the patches, 800x600. I've got Explorer 5.5.
I'm on the bottom end of computer chain here at the office. I just got upgraded to a Compaq 333P2 with 64 Megs of ram. I have sound now, which came in handy playing the game in the other thread.

Rather? Jeff, you've been beaten in copmuter knowledge by girls. I'd hand over your penis now.
Right click anywhere on your wallpaper. Select "properties". On the window that comes up, click "settings" which should be the far right option. Look at the slidy bar in the bottom right hand corner of the window. Your resolution is under there.
