Well, I haven't had my license for a year yet, but as you all know I have my own truck now. I don't have a cell phone yet, but I might get one once I get another job so that I can use it to call my dad if my truck breaks down on the highway or something like that.

I got my driver's license about a couple months after my 16th birthday. That was wayyyy back in the summer of 1995. Once I got my driver's license, I inheritted my father's 1990 Cavalier. It was never in my name; hell, I wasn't even listed as the primary driver of the car until after I graduated high school. Now, 6 years and a couple months later, I finally own a car that is listed in my name. She's all mine...

Now, I've had a cell phone for the past two years. I originally got it because my Cavalier wasn't the most reliable thing on four wheels. Plus, I tended to go out late at night (or very early morning) to eat, socialize, shop, etc. So it was my safety net. Then, when I worked in the dorms, I also used it when I was on-call to call from my location to the front desk or UHPD or whoever I needed. I rarely have personal calls on it. And I use the cell phone's memory for storing numbers.

Everything else, I use my laptop.

My cell phone is my lifeline to existance... without it, I'd be lost and alone in this world. It carries all of my phone numbers, it keeps time for me, it makes me accessible to the rest of the world, and it's there to comfort me when the satan possessed car of mine chooses to either a) provoke an attack from another car or b) randomly blow up parts that are important to it's life (stereo, amp, tires, etc...) Sooo..... Omega, sorry your life sucks, but for me, I have a car AND a cell phone, which probably makes me MUCH cooler than you Just kidding.

Hey, if my friends are cool, I'm cool. Or something.

You know, those eBookMen are way cool, especially when you consider the price. But even on eBay, I can't afford one. Oh, well. The PV-400 will handle everything I need and then some. Now if I could just win a frikin' auction...

Cell phones are a must have fashion accessory here where I live. Go figure. But for me, I use it to store numbers and appointments that I have. It's cheaper than a PDA for me, plus I have a plan that lets me call people for free just as long as they are Cingular customers with MTM service. That and it weighs only a few onces and you can change the faceplate.

Have you ever thought about buying a Cybiko?

One of these?

I think for the money, I'd be better off with the Casio. More memory, and more flexibility. I especially don't need some way to spend money on a monthly basis. And what would I use a cell phone for? I don't go anywhere, and I don't call anyone.

"I don't go anywhere, and I don't call anyone."

Seems like the sort of thing that you, of all people, need desperately to remedy...

I'm workin' on it. There's a girl I'm meaning to ask out tonight. Assuming she's there. Which, with my luck, she won't be.

Well, it's almost a done deal. My dad will send the money order as soon as we find out the final total, with shipping. I guess I'll have delivery within two weeks. Of course, I won't actually GET the thing for four months. Christmas and all.

Handspring Visor Deluxe. 8MB of memory, and it runs PalmOS, which makes it compatable with practically everything out there. Comes with both a USB cradle and a serial cradle, meaning I can hook one to my Mac and one to my PC, thus allowing me to use the device to transfer large files easily. (I really need to get a USB adaptor for my external SCSI Zip drive, but that's another topic all together.) Almost-new condition on all of it, including the $40 leather case. Total: $75, plus shipping, for over $250 of equipment.

Excite Classifieds rule. Remember that next time you go shopping.

What do you mean you won't "get" it for four months?

What's this? You have BOTH a PC and a Mac, all these nifty goodies, an external SCSI drive and yet you're whining and complaining about cars and cellphones?

Sheesh, I'd like to get stuff that you're getting, minus the stupid Mac. So, the next time you're complaining about cars and cellphones, kwitcherbeefin and remember what you really got.

*snort*

Hardly. This PDA will be practically the ONLY Christmas present I get. I used up my gift quota for the year on that bass clarinet I got for my birthday. If I had rich parents, I WOULD have been given a car on my sixteenth birthday, or at least when I got my licence.

The Mac is way out of date, the PC is unstable and refurbished, and the external SCSI zip drive was free with the Mac. Still think we're rich?

Oh, and to answer your question, Tahna, we're buying it now because it's such a great deal, but I won't personally have posession of it until Dec. 25. It'll be in my mom's closet.

And I'm not complaining! Again, what would I do with a car or a cell phone?
