Except Saturn isn't in very many classes of cars. All they make a small coupes/sedans and a mid-size sedan, as well as the wagons. They have no large vehicles, no convertibles, no trucks, and no SUV...at least, until this comes out later this year:

2002 Saturn VUE

Among all of GM, Saturn is the lowest rung when it comes to luxury. Chevrolet is only a step above, and in my opinion a lot of the Chevrolets actually have better styling.

Also, I think Saturn engines are actually built in Germany. I know that a few of the engines used in the Saturn are also used in the Opel cars in Germany, and maybe the Vauxhalls in Britain.

Luxury? Who cares about luxury? Cars only need two things:

a) Reasonable nice stereo

b) stick-shift

How about decent seats? Or seatbelts for that matter...

Stick-shifts definitely rate high on the priority list. Nothing beats pulling through the gears @ 7000 rpm.

I'm actually quite surprised you are familiar with them, Snay. I thought 99.999999999% of all Americans drove automatics?

My car has neither a nice stereo, nor a manual transmission, yet it still manages to transport me from one location to another. It would seem your theory is disproven...

Oh, and I'm not surprised no-one buys Firebirds/TAs. Actually, I'm surprised anyone buys Pontiacs at all anymore. Are all the designers there blind? Those cars just keep getting uglier and uglier every year. And when they can't make their existing cars any uglier, they invent new ones (e.g. the Ass-tek)...

Actually, the Firebirds/Trans Ams do sell sort of well, its just the people that buy them aren't exactly the best people in the world to use as an image...

And Pontiac has some nice cars. The Grand Prix for one is very good, and so is the new Vibe.

Oh, and GM has released pictures of the redesigned (it was so bad they had to change it after just 1 year...) 2002 Pontiac Aztek (1 2 3). Seems GM thought gray plastic was too drab, so colored plastic is better? Nah...

My old best friend has a 97 Saturn that he bought new.. he is almost done with his four figure five year debt, and I've constantly snickered about how he sold himself into indentured servitude to pay for the damn thing starting when he was 18 years old.

But I've never laughed at the car, because its a damn fine vehicle and has taken us to the galactic barrier and back... ok to the R.I. border and back.. only because Rhode Islanders dont really think that much of CT or Mass.

And I've always looked for girls who would like me and not my car.

I don't see any reduction in the ugliness level of the Ass-tek...

Well, let's see. I like my mom's Focus because it handles very well and gets good gas mileage. I like my dad's F-150 because it sits high and it's pretty rugged. Hopefully my Ranger will be a mix of the two, which will make me very happy

Just remember to drive slow in rain and not accelerate going into turns.

Actually, it seems to me that the Corvette rather says, "I go really REALLY fast." But hey, that's just me.
