Because I figured it was at least as interesting as Snay's pop-up crisis, I thought I'd mention that hurricane Ivan is heading directly towards my house and that I am leaving it (the house).

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!
oh wait.....
Good luck man, hope you've got everything secured.
Where do you plan to go anyway? I mean, you're gonna have to travel the distance across Texas if you're gonna get away from it (at last glance, that hurricane is HA-UGE).

I feel for you: I just did the same thing with hurricane Frances. Where do you live that you're in the bullseye?

Hmm... I guess being stuck at LAX due to an air traffic control center loosing power is far better I guess.

The house is was? in Gautier, MS near Biloxi we've fled as far as Northern AL. We'll still see winds and rain but after three years in Iceland that doesn't worry us so much if it is <90 mph.
We have all the people and mammalian pets, if it wasn't warm blooded it didn't make the cut, harsh but the car is only so big, are safe and we have wireless Internet for as long as the power holds anyhow.
Freon powered dildos, I'm sure that isn't legal to even read about in Alabama!

Yeah...100 mph winds suck it: hope you did what we did a few weeks back: beer, chunky soup, halloween candy, books and chess. Was not too bad: no power sucked though.
