Compared to last year, this year was pretty good to me. I won't go in to all the details (for fear of jinxing the whole thing), other than the fact that as of this morning, I am officially a year older.

The only bad thing: I am now 28. I want my years lost back.

Peace out.

Eric

As someone who spent last year this time living in a cheap motel, eating out of an ice chest I had to drain and refill every other day and trying to work my way into a position to get us out of their after losing our home, I can honestly tell you that things WILL get better as long as you don't give up.

WTF... since when is 28 old? Even 56 isn't old... but 28? Forget the numbers since either way they become larger. There is no way we can turn back the clock... so just go foward.

Snap out of it Eric and freaking enjoy life. Might as well live it while you got it, right?

I have a friend that no longer counts birthdays as the age that he has become... instead he refers to them as the "anniversary of his 21st birthday"

That means that this year was the 20th anniversary of his 21st birthday. He finds that a much more comforting way to look at it. To each their own, right?

Anyway, happy birthday!!!! :-)

That sounds worse LOA - since it's counting how far away from 20 you are! Smaller numbers are easier to comprehend.

Oh, if we're just talking about FEELING old, as opposed to BEING old, I totally have all y'all beat! [Wink]

I wear a leg immobilizer on a regular basis because my knee cap keeps randomly moving out of place - the only way to fix it is to do PT, but I can't do that because I'm not allowed to exercise - at all.

I feel old because I cannot exercise - therefore, I have no energy, therefore, I feel old.

My Grandma just had a large tumor and her entire kidney removed in Nov. They gave her lower dose pain killers for that pain than I've been taking on a regular basis for over a year.

Speaking of my Grandma, I take a higher dose of her blood pressure medicine than she does - and I don't even have high blood pressure. On the contrary, the last time they checked it, it was so low that the nurse was concerned about me still being conscious.

I have no fewer than 100 half-empty prescription bottles in my medicine cabinet. And they're all still good prescriptions. And i keep them because I got tired of always throwing one drug away, only to be put on it again a month down the road, and then having to pay the same copay over again. It's a waste.

I got to bed at 9pm.... and I sleep until 7am.... and I feel like napping in between.

And I'm only 24.

But I feel about 80. Not 70, becuase that's how old my Grandma is, and she has WAY more energy and life than I do!

So yeah... if we're just talking about FEELING old, I win... because I feel ANCIENT anymore!! [Smile]

But it's all good... because I'm still happy to be alive!!!!!! And I'll take the good with the bad, because I know that this is just a rough patch in life, and it'll all pass. Maybe when I'm 25, I'll feel younger! Wouldn't that be awesome??? [Smile]

Happy birthday again, though.... whoo, hoo!!!!!! One more year of life experiences! Good or bad, they're still special. Enjoy them!

Yes, but you're in Love, so everything is good, no?

I'm actually very optimistic just now- I gots some money, am paying off my credit cards, living in a nice apartment and my internet/cable gets restored next week (I was too poor all year to maintain it).

Lastly, my screwed up leg seems to be getting better!

Very cool.

As long as we're talking about old injuries and feeling old in general. I've got three bone chips in my right elbow from a decade of schoolyard beatings, usually it doesn't bother me untill it gets cold, or i don't move my elbow for a while. I'm only 20 and it's already arthritic. Arthritis Sucks! The doctor said it'd only get worse so that by the time i'm 40 i'll wish i was dead. Really gives someone something to look forward to in thier later years eh? Plus both my pinky toes are sideways... The ones getting better tho it's only 45 degrees from where it should be... Oh ya. And my back hurts in the mornings. Also from a decade of schoolyard beatings.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things I cannot accept.
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of all the people I had to kill today because they pissed me off.

Why did you let the schoolyard beat you for a decade?
