This one is a comic I saved from a while ago, but still appropriate:

This reminds me of the story with the shepherd boy and the wolf.

They'll continue with these terror warnings till nobody believes them.

I might as well do the obligatory:

"That's it. Step up to red alert."

"Are you absolutly sure, sir? It does mean changing the bulb."

--------------------
Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Orange Alert?? Does this mean a return to Seventies colours!?! Lots of garish oranges and browns!?! [Smile]

What about "purple alert! purple alert!
" "What's that Holly?" "Well it's more than a blue alert, but not quite a red alert" [Smile]

Hey did they only use 'blue alert' on Voyager once? in the 37er's? Or again in Basics Part 1?

They never used it again.

I'm personally on Plaid Alert: I currently have my ful bio-protection gear on and my Hello Kitty Ricine detector has a fresh pack of AAA batteries just in case.
I'm so scared that I'll go along with whaterver Der Department Of Hemeland Security says.
I've also noted all the locations of all the 7-11's in my city (known arab hangouts)and reported my neighbor's suspicous activities.
Truly I'm showing my loyalty to Herr Ashcroft's New World Order.

I believe that they missed it out in Basics but used it again in Demon.

From what I heard on CNN, many local and state agencies are not doing additional measures in protecting the public. These agencies are confronted by the vagueness of the threats and are constrained by budgetary limits.

There is a belief by some, by some , the raising of the alert level is part of a larger White House plan. Three days ago, Sec of State Powell warned of possible chemical and biological attacks by terrorist cells affliated with Iraq. A day later, the Department of State issued a warning to all embassies which are then to pass the information on to Americans living aboard of possible chemical and biological attack. Subequently, the threat level is raised.

According to the White House, and contrary to the belief by some, this action was prompted by an increase of chattering on the terrorist networks and there is no connection between this event and prior events.

Just watched "Sum of all fears", I hadn't looked at any trailers, I was totally surprised when the Baltimore stadium detonated.

Orange, what's that? DefCon 4?

I was watching on the news and they were talking on the news with the mayor of my city (Milwaukee) about how to be prepared and what our state is doing.
I know the authorities are required to beef up security but, I sincerely doubt the terrorists are going to attack Wisconsin! It's too cold, for one thing, and our crime rate is destroying us for them!

Nim,

As you might imagine, the Baltimore region prefers the novel "Sum of All Fears" where nukes do not detonate in *our* city.
