I just have to say that Voyager hasn't had a slump YET in season 6... I've you're wondering what I'm going on about - the 5th video of season 6 was just released in Australia. Top stuff Voyager.

Lucky you... I live in Holland, and I'm still waiting for the release of Voyager 6.3 ... Fortunately one of our television stations aired Voy's 6th season until "One Small Step", then they quitted.

Alpha: Tape 6.3 has been out for a while now in Holland.

Actually, tape 6.4 should be out this week.

Haha, another Dutchman.
Why did they stop with Voyager anyway, and why do they start rerunning the series in the middle of a season, it just doesn't make sense!

*agrees with Prakesh*

Altair: You're right, I was mistaken. And I saw 6.4 today, too. BTW, the 6th season tapes have really ugly covers. I liked the 5th season covers very much.

I really have no idea Prakesh.

At least now they have enough time to go all the way to the season 7 final. I hope they are going to do just that.

BTW: If you are buying your tapes at Virgin in The Netherlands, you can wait a long time. They aren't getting any tapes of any kind for at least 3 weeks... I recommend going to another store for a while. Good ones are Free Record Shop, Warp 9 at Leiden and The Hague, or order then at 'Sorry no Subtitles'.

TSN: It seems like that *everything* in Holland has English names... not only our stores.

Dutch names just aren't 'cool' enough...

This reminds me of a thing that happened last week at my work.

We gave a little demonstration and someone asked if we could just give a server a random Dutch name. The person who renamed it called it: "Demo Data Server".

Anyway, Virgin and the Free Record Shop are also in other countries. But Warp 9 (which is indeed 'warp nine') and 'Sorry no Subtitles' are Dutch stores...

I just got 6.3 and 6.4.

There are few places to buy original Trek videos in Germany. The according shop might be named "Sorry, not dubbed". There is virtually no chance to see anything in the original version, the stations almost always prefer stereo. Well, sometimes there is a Mexican film with a Chinese sound channel and Bulgarian sub-titles

Still, I wonder why almost all shops call themselves "shop" and everything cool is called "cool" in German. Probably to ease communication with Dutch customers

It says 'cool' not just cool.

I meant to say that English names are used because they sound more impressive somehow. I think it is because we all grew up with English from very early on. We learn English at school when we are about 9-10 years old or so.

Shop names in Dutch just don't have that sertain ring to it... I cannot really explain it well.

In Japan a few years ago, the big rage was Romanized characters, e.g. the Roman alphabet most of the world uses. The people liked the way ceratin letters looked alone & formed together, but didn't really care what they said, so they were selling things like tote bags that read "COO COO LITTLE BIRD YOU LOOK HAPPY TODAY EAT FOOD IN CORN".

Anywhat, there's a park in Tokyo where all the bands go & play for people...& there was this one 50s-era "greaser" band with the whole deal--pompadours, leather jackets, et. al. And obviously they had--like the rest of their countrymen--adopted the spirit & not the letter of the craze, for they had a big sign out front announcing their name in giant Roman letters.

Perhaps they should have researched the words with someone before deciding to call themselves "KING FUCKER CHICKEN."
