Speaking of Encounter at Farpoint, one of my favorite in-episode moments occurs when Worf is at the Conn station and the camera trucks in towards Picard from the viewscreen...and just as Worf is about to go out of shot you can see him PUSH the Conn console so it swings away to allow the camera through.
One other thing about Farpoint is that the two-part version actually is edited slightly to make room for two sets of credits, opening titles and the "Last episode" stuff. I used to know exactly what scenes were deleted from the original 2-hour pilot, but the memory has faded.

They did the same for every episode aired the same way --
Emissary, Way of the Warrior (Quark's scene with the box is cut out), All Good Things...

I was especially PO'ed when I saw WotW in two parts, minus the box scene. It ranks up there as one of the best Quark/Odo scenes ever, and the bastards cut it...

Quark is refusing to leave the station. He's got his old Ferengi sidearm from his time in the Ferengi Merchant Marines (or whatever they call 'em), and he tells Odo he'll fight to the end to protect his Bar.
Then he opens the box and finds a note from Rom.

It was very cute

Jeff, I was buying TNG LDs a year or two ago on Ebay but I didn't have a lot to spend and rarely did I find great deals....sold what I had collected and made a bundle in profit though.

I was lucky, I picked up most of the first season for about $10 a disc -- had to shell out extra for Conspiracy/Neutral Zone, though -- that one went for about $25.
