Looks like that big "TEST" in the background is about to get blown up. Too bad I couldn't do that to my thesis reports when I'm done with 'em. [Razz]

Spiffy stuff, Mojo! I take it that this is a Klingon torpedo. Among things, it could also make a neat wallpaper for my monitor. [Smile]

Actually, I figured it was a Borg torpedo. They had some on Voyager, didn't they?

Although this effect was based on the ones in First Contact, I think it has a similar, streaky feel to the Motion Picture torpedos.

This is what you'll be seeing in the book, so if you prefer a different effect, I suggest preparing your Colorforms Photon Torpedo kit now!

Funny but I didn't think of the Borg. I guess I was thinking in DS9 rather than VOY terms. Anyway, seems reasonable for a Borg torp. IIRC the original Delta Flyer was destroyed by Borg torps if you need a reference.

I watched First Contact again yesterday and I took special attention of the photorps. They do have a slight spiking effect but it's only really noticeable with the final salvo against the cube.

It's worth mentioning that I liked the look of the Quantorps in the movie. The lens flare type effect was cool. In all honesty though, I don't usually pay that much attention to the way torpedos look.

Well, Sol's the resident expert on the various glowing things that come out of Borg cubes, but I'm pretty sure that nothing shot by the Borg has ever been termed a torpedo.

Borg seemed to tractors and beam-weapons in space battles.

However, in their first appearance, the used a shield draining charge that might be looked at a torpedo (of a sort anyway), and in FC they were using pulses of weapons that could be considered torpedolike for the orbital bombardment of Montana

We saw Borg "torpedoes" all the time. The renegade Borg ship in "Descent" used 'em. The Tactical Cube used 'em. The BoBW cube used some sort of energy pulse to blow up those Mars Perimeter ships. The "First Contact" cube used something similar too, often blowing up ships with a single shot.

So in terms of continuity, I'm sure Mojo could get away with showing the Borg use their yellow cutting beam and their green torpedo/pulse thing...

I'm an expert in something, finally!

My list of Borg weaponry, observed:

Cutting beam--used to carve a ship up, or take samples, or to write "345 of 470 was here" on the sides of icy comets.
Tractor beam--not just good for stopping ships, it can also disintegrate them, perhaps (note, this is a patented Sol System interpretation, ask me about our free newsletter if you're interested)
Shield-draining weapon--fired in short bursts, this weapon shuts down shields without damaging what's underneath
Magnetically guided charges--a simple explosive device
Energy bolt--a generic greenish blast, similar to a disruptor bolt
Energy beam--presumably a Borg version of the standard phaser
Forced plasma beam--hand held weapon

I've got pictures of most of these in action, if anyone is interested.

Also, no torpedos, aside from the guided charges. But that's an artefact of my list-making protocol, which involved not assigning...physicality to a projectile unless specifically mentioned.

I think this photon effect is perfect, whatever colors are used for whatever races need it.
