A request: Does anyone have or could make a good, large screencap of the wreckage field that Voyager & the Maquis ship fly through in "Caretaker"? You know, the scene that was later reused in "Way of the Warrior" to represent a destroyed Cardassian fleet, just by coloring the wreckage mustard yellow? There's something in that wreckage I'd like to get a better look at...

I've seen the Merchantman, and the thing in the upper right corner looks like a promellian ship, upside down. What's the large thing upper left corner? Looks like a Surak-warpsled with a single wheel between the nacelles or something.

Ah, yes, that's the one, although I would have liked the scene to be just a bit bigger & clearer. Oh, well. Also, I was wrong. Apparently TPTB didn't even bother to color the wreckage mustard to represent Cardassian ships.

Anyway, there's an interesting bit of wreckage just above the Constitution nacelle & to the left. It looks like two thick nacelles on curved pylons, which lead directly to a tubular engineering hull. Does this look similar to an Ambassador class hull sans saucer to anyone else?

(I'm bringing this topic to light because I have a sneaking suspicion that this scene might have been part of the original omitted wreckage scene from "Emissary," and wasn't originally made specifically for VOY or DS9. If anyone can make clearer scans, I'd be most appreciative.)

Well, this is what I see (and I concentrated my research on Starfleet vessels. Things like the funky bubble ship to the right for example don't even look like anything we've seen before.)

Interesting that you think all those tiny things are far-off ship models. I would have guessed that they were relatively nearby, and were simply random chunks of plastic or styrofoam.

I agree. "A" for effort, Kyle, but I kinda think that making an observation about far-off specks being actual starship models is grasping at straws a bit. I was more interested in the things we can see somewhat clearly.

BTW, as for the object everyone's calling a Constitution nacelle: Are people just saying that because it's long & thin? Sure, it kinda resembles a Connie refit nacelle, but where is the warp grille?

I'm confused as to how you concluded that one white blob was the same as the other white blob. There are twenty white blobs and they all look like white blobs. But some are the same white blob, and different from the other white blob. There are many white blobs.

I knew the white-spot-theory might sound a bit strange, but I think some of those things look too familiar to be just debries built from anything that was available. I thought so first, but it was the ship in the upper right corner that led me toi assume there's a bit more. You can clearly see a round thing (the saucer) sitting in front of two long, thin things (the nacelles), even something that might be a secondary hull. Of course, some of them are just what they seem to be - useless remains of model kits, latex or Okuda's lunch - but others, like that one or the 'ship' located below and right of the above mentioned one (which looks like a mono-nacelle vessel like the Freedom) seem to be real low-detail models. We have seen them several times, from 'The Making of DS9' to 'Star Trek Design', and I think they keep most of them for far-background-stuff like this. (I also remember a T'Lani battleship and Cardassian vessel in particular, so there could be non-starfleet vessels, too)

Well, you see, this is why I wanted clearer 'caps in the first place...

its probly just me but when i see the wreckage labelled "Mmmmh..?" i keep thinking...damaged akira model...i dunno why...but to me it looks like a damaged version of the up-close front view of the Thunderchild from ST:FC.
its probly something else but i keep seeing the catamaran hull parts and the roll bar.

haha

I think you'll find that the Constitution nacelle is actually from the Reliant.
Remember, a large chunk of nacelle got blown off at the end of TWoK.
For some reason, that large piece of debris at the top-middle of the screen looks like a miranda, possibly the main hull without the nacelles. It could either be one of the Saratoga's miniatures or the crippled version of the Reliant (I assume they used a seperate model for thoses shots).
There also seams to be a ship near the middle of the shot, it looks rather Nebulaish to me. Possibly another use of the original Melborne wreakage? or the rumoured, lost Gage model from "Emissary"?
