I was watching the DS9 episode "Favor the Bold" and in one of the big Federation fleet fly bys the defiant appears to be semi-invisable! only certain surfaces are there and you can see some fighters flying behind it. Could a mistake this obvious be left in?

Well, considering that it's taken you 4 years to notice, I don't think we can call it "obvious".

What shot anyway? There were only two fleet flybys in "Favour The Bold" as I recall, the first one where the fleet leaves the starbase (reused in WYLB), and one just before it cuts to inside the Defiant and everyone realising that there are a lot of Dominion and Cardassian ships in front of them.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Second. And I noticed when I first bought the video but as I'm fairly new here I've only just mentioned it.

Interesting. I've never noticed anything like that and I must have seen that scene a dozen times. I'll check my tape in the morning and see if I can spot it.

I've watched the bit described. First, I don't see any blooper. Second, that scene uses the physical model, not the CGI.

May I add a possible blooper, too? One of the last episodes (Dogs of War? The one where they get the Defiant-A): the ship leaves the station and for a short moment seems to be semi-invisible, too. Don't know why, maybe I'm wrong, but it was a funny coincidence seeing it after I read the topic.

What are you guys smokin'? IIRC the new Defiant doesn't leave the station until "WYLB". The Sao Paulo arrives, the ship docks, the DS9 crew look around. End of story. The couple of shots of the Sao Paulo was stock footage of the Defiant miniature.

^ There were a couple of new shots in the WyLB battle, the barrel roll, a bit when Defiant chases an attack ship and a few others. I have seen any of this invisability though, I thought it was Voyager that had transparent scenes.

As well as transparent storylines.... [Roll Eyes]

Some of these contained plot-holes so big you could sqeeze an entire galaxy through them.

Heh, pass the bud this way guys... I didn't see anything. As for Voyager, I do recall the CG model having some flaws in the openning credits, mostly with the textures being off.

Um, I believed they used the physical model when they did Voyager's opening credits.

They used CGI for the wake-inducing nebula shot, and for the final flyby that ends in a warp jump. During the final flyby, look at the bottom of the secondary hull... there are two black, featureless spots where the textures weren't applied.

Hi.
I have found an other CG blooper:
 -
This is the Endgame fleet.
Look at the galaxy class saucer impulse engine.

I am lost. What about it? Is it misaligned? Are the two not even?

Or are you just pointing out that it is lit? And thus saying that they didn't bother to return the lighting on the model to its prewar state? Which is, I suppose, a valid comment, but hardly a mistake.

hmm THEY ARE ON!
I all TNG episodes when the saucser was docked on the secundary hull were the saucer impulse engiens off. Only if the saucer is seperated then should be the engines on.
