For those of you interested, here are some scans from the featured "Fleet File" on the Galor from the March/April "ST: Communicator". There are some noticable flaws...notably the length, and some missing 'disruptor' emitters...
...and that's one thing that bothered me about Galors. Weren't they supposedly armed with 'compression beams' or was that some noncanon factoid? Then they bounced back and forth between 'disruptors' and 'phasers'...[/tangent]
Anyway, there was also a separate article about designing the Galor & DS9 by Rick Sternbach. I didn't scan the article, but I included some early design concept sketches of the Galor from 1990 that were in it.

I'm not sure about the origins of that "compression beam" thing... Compression phasers were a VOY weapon from "Caretaker", and when people here started speaking of them as modern superweapons, I decided to describe them as a *primitive* version of phasers used by losers such as Cardassians in my Guide writings. I wasn't aware they had been associated with Cardassians elsewhere...
The "spiral-wave disruptor" thing is solely a DS9 TM invention (and thus about as reliable as the cut-paste error about "Bajoran phased polaron beams"), and I think there has never been any real canon mention of the type of Cardassian shipboard beam weapons. The handguns got a few mentions, though, both as "disruptors" and as "phasers".

Again not canon, but they mentioned the Cardassian Galor weapons on the 'schematic' card from the Deep Space Nine trading card set that was released in 1993.

What kind of joke is this? The cardassians don't have torpedo launchers? How the hell could they produce a stalemate in the war with the Federation???

Probably for low-orbit/upper-atmosphere insertion of planetary assualt vehicles.
The Cardassians must have used something in the initial conquest of Bajor besides starships.

That's probably because Galors swapped weapons more often than I change my underwear. They fired purple beam thingies in The Wounded, orange beam thingies in Emissary, and then yellow beam thingies during the Dominion War, so what type of armaments those ships actually carry is anyone's guess.

Did they make mention in "The Maquis, Part 1" about the Cardassian colonists using Galor Class weaponry on their shuttles and transports?? Did they eithermention specifically beam weapons or torpedoes perhaps?

To my knowledge, the only possible example of a Cardassian torpedo in use would be TNG's "Ensign Ro," where the two Galors fired torpedo-like blasts at the Bajoran transport. But I don't remember enough about the episode to remember where the blasts appeared to come from on the ships, or whether they actually looked like torpedoes.

"The Wounded"[TNG4] - Pepto beams on the Galor, but the "warship" destroyed on the tactical display seemed to have multiple ranges indicated, and thus multiple weapons. They could've all been beams, of course, but there's no way to know.
"Ensign Ro"[TNG5] - Glowy purple blobs
"Chain of Command, Pt. II"[TNG6] - No beams seen, but when Jellico orders the ejection of the Cardassians' phaser coils the slimy snake dude says they'll be left defenseless.
"The Chase"[TNG6] - Orange, phaser-esque beams.

In the Star Trek Compendium by Larry Nemecek - in the behind the scenes part for "Chain of Command" Pink was going to be the next 'phaser' colour for Cardassians. It was obviously dropped pretty quickly.
